Ymsingating

Something is happening up on Ymsingating today, something has happend. SO we have to go and see what`s happening in the forest. Vikings had “tingvoll” (assembly) a place where they did decide laws, and judged people for the crime they had done. Often was this also a place for people to gather to get in contact with others they not saw that often, or make new bonds and get to know each other. The best known places we find this to day is on Iceland and on Island of Man in UK. Read more about tingvoll.

First version of the MistgriM story is now finished, so now it is the work of edit the text and break it up into pages that is the next part of the process. MistgriM has a lot of inspiration from the old Norwegian fairytales. The fairytale stories from Norway has changed a lot trough the years, adapting to its time. It looks also like the stories has traveled big distances, because we find similar stories in other parts of the world. I guess that a good story never will be forgotten.

My story for Parable volume 1 is called Illuminated. You can now see a page from the comic and read about me and my work on the Parable page. The first Parable book will come in the beginning of November this year in USA. And I am happy to be part of this book, the other parts I have seen looks great!

Home sweet home

Heimen heng i en eng,
vaier sakte i vinden.
Gir en stille ro og fred,
gjennom hele natten.

Home sweet home.
Here is another drawing made as inspiration to the MistgriM book and the “In the Mist” short film.

Flying to Flowerhorn

Flowerhorn

Come fly to Flowerhorn
where the spring is born,
and where the lazy old
troll has his home.

Come fly to Flowerhorn
and see the snow will be gone,
and the flower once again come
to shine all summer long.

Flowerhorn is one of the places in MistgriM, this is another concept drawing for that story. My inspiration for this story will come from the Norwegian nature, and the folklore that we got. When growing up one of the main inspiration was the work of T. H. Kittelsen, a Norwegian artist who has captured the nature and folklore. I think he might be the one to give the Norwegian Troll the face that is best known today. His art is as good an inspiration today as when they was made.

MistgriM - In the deep forest.

Here is a concept art for MistgriM, it is a look into the deep forest where the strange creatures live. A hidden friendly world we find there. This illustration is part of the exploration of the Mist world before the real work begin.

A cup of TEA - A look into the future. This and next month A cup of TEA will look into the world of tomorrow. How will our life be? What will change? And how will the forest change? This and other questions is something that the comic look into. We base the knowledge on technology that we know is being produced or that is ready to be produced. Hopefully the look into the future also can be inspiration to others.

MistgriM poster

This is the project that is currently in development at Jinglepaper Studio. It is part of the project “In the Mist” and from the same world, and the short film with the same name is slowly in development. More info about MistgriM will come later, and you can follow new updates on the animated short “In the Mist” here on this blog.

P is my story for Parable Anthology 2 that I think will come out next year, it is a 10 page treasure map/old document style comic. So far people has told that it looks strange but good, and I don`t think anyone who has seen it have found the treasure within the document/comic. More info about it will come later some time.

It is spring and feels like summer, so if you want to learn more about how nature works and the big question of our time, then turn over to the A cup of TEA comic for weekly updates.
